Master of Ceremonies ~ Ray
Littleturtle
Guilford Native is proud to welcome Ray Littleturtle as Master of Ceremonies.
Ray is the historian and presenter for Turtle Vision, Inc. He is a Lumbee-Cheraw
Indian, who has worked as MC at Pow Wows across the East Coast and is known
for his ability to educate and promote Native Americans. He is a member
of the North Carolina Commission of Indian Affairs, serving as the Cultural
Chair; the Lumbee River Legal Services, treasurer; and Native Religious
representative for N.C. Native American Prisoners.

Singer,
Composer, Teacher, Poet, Dancer, Actress, Lion Tamer, has studied
with the American Ballet Theatre and Martha Graham, and sung with
the Mercer Ellington Orchestra. She has appeared on Broadway in the
"Me Nobody Knows," "Ari," and "Via Galactica."
Pura Fé is a guest instructor at the Native Theatre
School in Toronto, Canada.
Pura Fé is a Smoke Dance champion. She has won First Prize or placed in competitions at Kanatsiohareke Homecoming (Mohawk), Tuscarora Nation at Sandborn, NY and Schemitzun at Mashantucket, CT (Mashantucket Pequot). She does vocal workshops throughout the Americas. In addition she has done studio work with numerous jazz bands, TV commercials and jingles. Pura Fé made her national solo debut with the R&B inspired album "Caution to the Wind" on Shanachie Records. Ulali was featured on the soundtrack of the Miramax film "Smoke Signals." They (she) performed at the 1998 Sundance Film Festival in support of "Smoke Signals" which won the "Audience Choice Award" and "Filmmaker's Trophy." Soni(Mayan, Apache, Yaqui) |
Actress,
Singer, Composer, Poet and Trapeze Artist, has studied at the American
Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco, California. Soni played
Chrissie in the original San Francisco and New York productions of
"Hair", danced with the Copasettics, and performed at LaMama
and ETC in New York and Europe with their production of "Alladins
Lamp," and appeared on Broadway in the "The Leaf People,"
by Tom OHargan.
Soni has sung with different Country and Blues groups and has done studio work for commercials and jingles. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the American Indian Community House in New York City. She worked with the Smithsonian Institution on the opening of the National Museum of the American Indian. Ulali was featured on the soundtrack of the Miramax film "Smoke Signals." Singer,
Composer, Teacher, Flautist, and Fire Eater comes from four generations
of seven singing sisters through the maternal line, and has been singing
since she was a small child. She guest lectures and conducts vocal
workshops at universities, schools and festivals.
Jennifer has done background vocals for various rock and jazz groups. She is a founding member of the Native American Scholarship Fund at Lynchburg College in Virginia. Ulali was featured on the soundtrack of the Miramax film "Smoke Signals." Newly elected GNAA Board Member Amanda Sheek
was the Native American Storyteller at Greensboro Beautiful's second annual
Clair de lune - Moon Over the Arboretum which
was held on Saturday, September 29 from 6-10 p.m. in the Greensboro Arboretum.
The Greensboro Arboretum is Located in Lindley
Park between West Market Street and West Wendover Ave.. This garden
features nine permanent plant collections, garden displays and structural
features. Clair de lune is a project of Greensboro Beautiful in cooperation
with the Greensboro
Parks and Recreation Department, and is made possible through generous
donations and private contributions from the community. For more information

GNAA operates programs / activities for children, youth, adults, and the elders that address child care, outreach and referrals, employment and training, emergency assistance, transportation, substance abuse, and leadership, economic, and cultural development. Major projects addressing these needs are the operation of a Day Care Center, a computer lab, the Workforce Investment Act program, and the Guilford Native American Art Gallery and Gift Shop. Cultural arts programs include an annual Pow Wow (Selected Pictures) From The 25th Annual GNAA Pow Wow, September 14-16, 2001), two major cultural arts festivals, and weekly dance and cultural classes.
