     George Cleveland Lewis, Sr.
, was born on February 10, 1944 in Fairmont, North Carolina to Lawrence Lewis and Artie Mae Hunt Lewis. This earthly life ended suddenly on Friday, February 8, 2002 at High Point Regional Hospital.

George was not a rich man, but he had a wealth of family and friends. He was not a scholar; he had a knowledge of Life and Jehovah God instead. His walls were not adorned with trophies, but with photographs of his children and grandchildren.

From his humble upbringing in Robeson County he learned many valuable lessons of life. He was a humble man, a generous man, and a man slow to anger. He was a "family man"; wherever you saw Macie, George was there. When Laura Ann gave birth to his first grandchild - April, he was there. When Nora gave birth to twins and his first grandson he was there. When George Jr. gave him his namesake, George Cleveland Lewis, III, he was there. His family knew if they ever needed anything "Daddy" or "Uncle George" or "Buzzy" was there. He learned work ethics, which is evident from his years of service at Davis Furniture and his close relationship to the Davis family.

Survivors who hold many fond memories in their hearts include: his wife of 37 years, Macie Dial Lewis; two daughters, Mrs. Nora Dial-Stanley and husband Stephen of Kernersville, and Laura Butler and husband Billy of Lumberton; a son, George Cleveland Lewis, Jr. and wife Maria of Dexter, Maine; two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Mae Locklear of Randleman and Mrs. Shirley Jacobs of Lumberton; two brothers, Lawrence Lewis, Jr. of St. Paul, NC and Cleveland Lewis of Lumberton; eight grandchildren, April Nicole and Stephanie Ann Oxendine, Stephen Ryan and Herietta Raven Stanley, Kilee Jordan and George Cleveland Lewis, III, and Tracy and Kathy Butler; an aunt Mageline Carter of Fairmont, NC. There are several nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, relatives, and a host of friends.

He was a husband, a father, a brother, a brother-in law, an uncle, a nephew, a cousin, and a best friend. Through his love of family and his love of life he influenced everyone that he met. He will be greatly missed.

Life Without End - At Last

Can you see, with your mind's eye,
Peoples dwelling together?
Sorrow has passed. Peace at last!
Life without tears and pain.

Chorus: Sing out with joy of heart.
You, too, can have a part.
Live for the day when you'll say;
"Life with-out end, at last!"

Man and beast, living in peace,
Cause no harm to each other.
Food will be there.
All will have share
In what our God provides.

Chorus

In those days old will grow young,
Flesh revived as in childhood.
Troubles are gone, from now on
No need to weep or fear.

Chorus

Paradise all will enjoy
As they sing of God's glory.
Yes, everyday we will say
To God our Maker, "Thanks!"

Chorus

Persons using a Windows/DOS computer that already have PowerPoint 97 or PowerPoint 2000 or above installed on their computer or are using a fairly current PowerPoint "Viewer" already installed should have no problem reading the .ppt PowerPoint Presentation file provided above.

If your Windows/DOS computer does not respond and play this file you will need a PowerPoint "Plug-in/Viewer" of some type.

(IMPORTANT!!! - Only qualified persons with an understanding of Windows/DOS Computers, downloads, installations, and setups should attempt this.

If you should decide to attempt this you do so AT YOUR OWN RISK!!

Be sure that you are a reasonably technical person or have someone on standby if you should decide to do this. Do NOT call Guilford Native American Association with PowerPoint and PowerPoint Viewer install and setup questions. These informational steps are simply provided to speed up the time it takes to discover how to utilize this .ppt file in a swift and timely manner.)

Note: Most Windows/DOS computers that do not have PowerPoint or have PowerPoint 95 can use the "PowerPoint Viewer 97" Provided at the Microsoft Corporate Web Site.

Steps to get the Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer...

1. Go to the Microsoft Corporate Web Site: http://www.microsoft.com

2. In the input box at the top left just below "Search" type "PowerPoint Viewer" and then click the gray "GO" button.

3. Go to the section listed for your type of computer and download and install the update(s) based upon your need. Windows/DOS computers should click on "PowerPoint Viewers and Converters" text link. Mac computer users should follow the Mac links and disregard the steps below that are listed for the Windows/DOS computers. GNAA, Inc. does not support or make Mac computer recommendations in any way. Go, therefore, and find a Mac guru/techie person to assist/help you!!!

4. (Still read the descriptions and make a careful and rational choice on which application to download for your situation! This is the one many of you may be looking for: (This is just an example below and is not linked to Microsoft!)

PowerPoint Viewer 97 (2000 Release) for PowerPoint 2000 Users

With this release, the Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer 97 now also supports PowerPoint 2000 files. This viewer allows people who use PowerPoint to share their presentations with people who do not have PowerPoint installed on their computers. Date: 27-Aug-1999 Type: Viewer

After you download and install the PowerPoint viewer you should close all your programs and save any files you are working on, disconnect from the Internet, and reboot/restart your computer.

To view the .ppt file go to start/programs/PowerPoint Viewer 97. Once the PowerPoint viewer is running simply load the .ppt file in the viewer application [browse to it] and click on the "Show" gray button to see it. One way to advance each slide is to do "left" mouse clicks. This viewer also has several options including printing options.

Note:  We were saying we needed one copy of Pagemaker for a single Dos/Windows PC. We do not need two copies.
Also a translation of "extra park for playground" means that we would like to have some concrete poured and formed
in our playground area to be used as a place for the children to ride. Thanks!
