A welcome message from the Day Care Director

A Message from the Day Care Director

Welcome to our Day Care web pages at the Guilford Native American Association, Inc. web site. All year long this United Way agency is helping Native Americans to become economically self-sufficient. It is a privilege to direct the Day Care center at this nonprofit, multipurpose Urban Indian Center in downtown Greensboro, North Carolina. We at the Day Care are glad you found us on the Internet.

GNAA operates programs and activities for children and youth.

This poem that I found years ago (author unknown) echoes my true feelings about caring for children and "Touching the Future..."

I don't wear power suits, make speeches, or drive a fancy sports car.

I've never read the wall street journal, made a big sale, or been elected to the senate.

I don't "Do Lunch", have a big impressive office, or carry a beeper.

I spend my days wiping tears away, giving hugs, and kissing foreheads.

A good day is when I go through a whole day without a temper tantrum, bite mark, or a toilet training accident.

My "Office" is a room full of brightly colored toys and laughing children.

You may not think what I do is very important and you may even whisper behind my back "What a waste of a good mind!"

...BUT I KNOW BETTER.

I make a difference because I'm changing the world one child at a time.

Everyday I'm getting the once in a lifetime chance to touch the future.

I'm proud to say I am a child care provider and I love my job.

If anyone finds out who wrote the lines above please let us know and we will give them credit for it or take it off our web site if the writer wishes. The words are so powerful that I wanted to share them with you and your family.

E-mail us about any questions or need for more information that you may have. We will respond to your request.

Sincerely,

Sandra Hunt, Day Care Director
