     The GNAA Day Care Project is a unique industry-related program which is an important part of the Guilford Native American Association, an urban Native American Center. The Day care is licensed for 26 children ages 6 weeks to 12 years. The program is designed to provide quality and affordable Day Care to the employees of Guilford Native Industries and other parents in the Greensboro community. The program offers a planned curriculum for the children including activities in the areas of art, math and science, dramatic play, manipulatives, cooking, and woodworking. The children are also served a nutritious morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack. The program is unique in that an ongoing informal parent education programs on topics such as discipline and nutrition are offered. In addition to these parts of the program, children are also introduced to Native American Cultural activities such as traditional Native American dances, songs, stories, and legends.

The Day care employs a full-time director, three full-time, and one part-time caregiver. All Day Care staff receive training required by the state of North Carolina in the areas of child development and day care. The Guilford Native American Association Day Care Project provides quality and affordable day care to parents and children of the:

Guilford Native Industries - an employment and training program of GNAA.
WIF, Workforce Investment Act, Grant participants of GNAA.
Other low-to-moderate income families of GNAA.

 The Day Care's major objectives are:

• Provide a Day Care program for 26 preschool children involving an approved preschool curriculum
  
  
• Nutritional, balanced meals for the children in the program
  
  
• Special Native American cultural experiences to promote a positive self-image and sense of identity
  
  
• Provide after school care and activities to 5 children
  
  
• Provide a monthly parent educational and information program
  
  Day Care Capacity...twenty-six children
  Age Range...six weeks to nine years (Including Afterschoolers)
  Afterschoolers Limit...five children
